Unstable flux flow due to heated electrons in superconducting films.
A flux instability occurs in superconductors at low temperatures, where e-e scattering is more rapid than e-ph, whereby the dissipation significantly elevates the electronic temperature while maintaining a thermal-like distribution function. The reduction in condensate and rise in resistivity produce a nonmonotonic current-voltage response. In contrast to the Larkin-Ovchinnikov instability wher...
متن کاملFlux distribution in superconducting films with holes
Flux penetration into type-II superconducting films is simulated for transverse applied magnetic field and flux creep dynamics. The films contain macroscopic nonconducting holes, and we introduce the holes in the simulation formalism by reconstruction of the magnetic field change inside the holes. We find that the holes induce a region of reduced flux density extending toward the nearest sample...

– We investigated the pinning of flux lines in a superconducting film by a regular array of magnetic antidots. The sample consists of a Co/Pt multilayer with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in which a regular pattern of submicron holes is introduced and which is covered by a type-II superconducting Pb film. The resulting ferromagnetic/superconducting heterostructure shows a pronounced asymmet...
متن کاملFlux Pinning and Forced
We propose controlled splay of artiicial columnar defects in cuprate super-conductors as a strategy to enhance transport properties in a eld compared to parallel columns. The theory predicts a new \splayed glass" phase characterized by a reduced ux creep, an entangled ground state, and an astronomically slow response to an applied transverse eld.
